Matt Thomas, the Power’s Best First Year Player in 2006, will take to the field for the first time this weekend since his ordeal in hospital that saw him lose 15kgs.
The hard working half-back flanker will take to Coopers Stadium for Norwood on Saturday afternoon, along with fellow Power players Hugh Minson who’s coming back from a foot injury and Nick Lower.
Thomas had an infection after having his appendix removed in the off season that saw him require major surgery and spend weeks in hospital.
But a lot of hard work from the dedicated 20-year-old has seen him get back all the weight he lost and get himself ready for competitive football on Saturday.
Thomas is one of 15 Power players who will play in the SANFL this weekend, while the Power has a weekend off before the season begins on March 31.
Robbie Gray will be packing his bags and heading to Hobart to play for West against Tassie, while Justin Westhoff will be looking to follow up the good form he displayed last week for Central, when he booted four majors.
