FREMANTLE senior coach Ross Lyon has played down the imminent return of emerging star Docker Nat Fyfe against Port Adelaide this weekend.

Fyfe is returning to AFL football this weekend having recovered from shoulder surgery undergone in May.

On the back of a break out season, Fyfe is set to ‘play a role’ for Fremantle, but Lyon has doused the notion of him having an immediate impact.

With questions surrounding the young Docker’s preparedness for football, Lyon was emphatic.

“Not that I’m aware of,” Lyon said of any lingering concerns around Fyfe’s shoulder.

“It’s an operation … that really locks it in, incredibly stable.

“He was really right to go last week in a shoulder sense but we just wanted to give him more and more football.”

Despite his belief in Fyfe, Lyon refused to guarantee the long-term condition of his shoulder.

“Time will tell - there’s not many guarantees in life.”

“[Further injury comes down to] Random chance … we’re taking no risk here.”

Fremantle will announce its team this evening at 5.55pm (SA local time).
