The curtain raiser at tomorrow’s Power-Hawks game is the Power Miner’s Cup, featuring representative teams from the Broken Hill Football League and the Woomera and Districts Football League.

The annual match - now in its third year - is proudly supported by BHP Billiton. BHP Billiton has an affiliation with both communities, having of course commenced its long history in Broken Hill and now operating the Olympic Dam mine near Roxby Downs.

A large contingent of BHP Billiton staff will be at the game, including many who have travelled from mining communities.

BHP Billiton has also joined the State Government as a partner of the Power’s Community Youth Program (CYP). The CYP utilises athletes from the Power, the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Adelaide Lightning to visit more than 150 metropolitan and regional schools every year. The program promotes positive messages associated with two key themes - ‘health and wellbeing’ and ‘harmony, respect and teamwork’.

The Port Adelaide Football Club thanks BHP Billiton for their continued support and congratulates the players who are representing their communities in the Power Miner’s Cup.
