Justin Wetshoff has been to the Telstra Dome on just one occasion. It was 2002 and he was a 15-year-old, sitting in the stands as the Bombers and Bulldogs played out a draw.

After kicking three goals on debut, Westhoff’s a good chance to make his second trip to ‘The Dome’ on Saturday night. This time though, 15-year-old AFL aspirants may be watching him.

Taking his promising start in his stride, the 199cm self proclaimed string-bean, said he never thought he’d get the chance to play at Telstra Dome.

“Definitely not, even last year or the start of this year it was a bit iffy, so I’m looking forward to pulling on the boots and playing somewhere a bit different,” Westhoff told the media at Allan Scott Power Headquarters.

“There’s no certainty of myself getting a game, there are a lot of players pushing for selection, especially some of the young guys, so we’ll see what happens.”

With two goals from his first two kicks in the AFL and three for the match, Westhoff understands he’ll be paid more attention next time he pulls on his No. 39 Power guernsey.

“I suppose after playing a half decent game a few clubs will have a closer look. Hopefully they don’t have too close a look,” he said.

“I want to take it a week at a time at the moment and I’m looking forward to playing well and doing the things for the team.”

Westhoff seems to handle pressure quite well. Just as he did in the AFL he also kicked two goals with his first two kicks in his first SANFL league game. However, he did admit to a few nerves after pulling down a mark, near on 50m out from home.

“I was a little bit worried about the first kick,” Westhoff recalled. “The mark wasn’t too bad but I was just happy to get it through. I was happy to get a few kicks which made for a good day out.”
