Cornes, Burgoyne progressing well
Fitness coach Cameron Falloon gives an update on the pre-season progress of recovering Port Adelaide players
Chad Cornes (shoulder/knee/finger), Warren Tredrea (shoulder) and Michael Pettigrew (shoulder)
CF: Chad is pretty much back to full training. He, Michael Pettigrew and Warren are all in a similar boat. They are all pretty much doing full training on their legs, but we’re minimising and modifying contact with them at the moment. Chad has just started agility-type running on his knee and has had no troubles with that.
They are all on track or ahead of schedule. Their strength training is going well, their running is going really well and their skills too, so they’re travelling well.
Peter Burgoyne (shoulder/ankle)
CF: Peter is progressing really well. He’s been running for nearly three weeks. He had very minor ankle and shoulder surgery at the end of last season, but he’s fine now.
Steve Salopek (achilles)
CF: Steve Salopek has just started running and, at this stage, is on track and hasn’t had any interruptions to the program.
Travis Boak (groins)
CF: Trav has been on a full training load since day one and he’s going it really, really well. His groins are really handling it and he’s a little bit stronger and bigger. He’s coping well and running very well.
Dom Cassisi (general soreness)
CF: Dom Cassisi had a few little minor niggles upon returning to pre-season, but he’s fine and running exceptionally well.
Matt Thomas (plantar fascia)
CF: Matty missed a lot of footy last year with the plantar fascia injury, but the break gave him a chance to rest up a bit and he’s already showing the benefits. We did a triathlon the other day and he won ahead of Kane Cornes and Salopek, who didn’t do the running, so that’s a good indicator of where Matty is at.
