Running defender Jacob Surjan will play against Geelong on Sunday evening after being added to the Power’s 25-man squad on Thursday, while three youngsters are looking to break into the side that will be finalised on Friday night.
Surjan is back in after a corked thigh and has been named to start on the ground at the expense of Josh Mahoney who has been dropped.
The 2004 premiership hero played every game last year and hasn’t been out of the side since Round 14 in 2005. His SANFL club, Glenelg, has the bye this weekend.
Added to an extended interchange bench is Travis Boak - the No. 5 draft selection at last year’s NAB AFL Draft, Nathan Krakouer - perhaps the biggest Power surprise this year, and emerging ruckman Fabian Deluca.
They’ll learn if they will make the final side when the Power culls its seven-man interchange bench to four on Friday at 4.30pm (CST).
Key defender Troy Chaplin wasn’t able to be considered for a return due to his foot injury that stopped him from training on Wednesday. He’ll miss his third consecutive game this weekend.
