PORT ADELAIDE is likely to regain the services of star duo Daniel Motlop and Dean Brogan for Saturday afternoon's clash with Melbourne, but looks resigned to losing young forward Justin Westhoff.
Motlop and Brogan, late withdrawals from the Power line-up last week, both joined in Wednesday's main training sessions.
But Westhoff didn't, five days after playing alongside younger brother Matt for the first time last week, and is in doubt with a knee injury.
Impressive defender Alipate Carlile said he was looking forward to having Motlop and Brogan back in the side.
"It would be a massive boost to the team if Motts and Broges were to come in and we want our best team playing each week," Carlile said.
"Unfortunately those two were both injured last week, so them coming back in gives us a massive boost."
Melbourne coach and former Port Adelaide assistant Dean Bailey said he expected the Power to throw a few surprises at him this week to counter his extensive knowledge of the club.
But Carlile said his team was focused on sticking to its guns.
"Dean obviously knows a fair bit about the insides and how everything works at the club, but we know that he’s got a certain style he likes to play as well, so it works both ways," he said.
"I think we’ll just go out with the same sort of game style and game plan we’ve had all year and hopefully that will help us get on top."
Port Adelaide will start Saturday's game against bottom side Melbourne as favourites and Carlile said it was important the Power came away with the points.
"We’ll treat Melbourne as even a top-eight side. They’re going along alright and we just want beat them and see how we go against a team we think we should beat," he said.
"We’ve got a lot of young blokes in the team, so to get a win for them and for them to be able to sing the club song would be great.
"We just want to go out there, play our style and get a win on the board because we haven’t had one for a while."
