JUSTIN WESTHOFF qualified for AFL Life Membership on Thursday night when he took to the field for his 300th official AFL game.
Made up of 277 AFL games and 23 pre-season games, Westhoff’s tally ranks him second behind Kane Cornes for games played for Port Adelaide in the AFL.
Here is how the 2018 John Cahill Medallist stacks up in the club’s record books:
- Westhoff was taken at pick 71 in the famous 2006 AFL National Draft which saw Port Adelaide also claim Travis Boak at pick 5, Paul Stewart at Pick 23, Nathan Krakouer at pick 39 and Robbie Gray at 55. Westhoff is the middle of three brothers and his youngest brother Matthew Westhoff was drafted by Port Adelaide with pick 33 at the 2007 AFL National Draft. He played six games for five goals in 2008-2009.
- Westhoff was the 101st player to represent Port Adelaide at AFL level. His debut came in a 34-point loss to Hawthorn in Round 10, 2007 at Football Park. That day the skinny beanpole had eight disposals, three marks and booted three goals. He ended up with 34 goals from just 16 games that season.
- Westhoff is currently third in the all-time goals kicked for Port Adelaide in the AFL. He has booted 312 goals across his 277 AFL games, which sees him rank behind Warren Tredrea (549 goals from 255 games) and Robbie Gray (323 goals from 226 games). His best individual haul of goals has been five goals in a game, achieved on four separate occasions.
- He has polled a total of 29 Brownlow Medal votes including his best seven in a season in 2013. He has polled eight votes against Fremantle – his best against any team – followed by seven against Adelaide.
- He is the oldest current player on the list and the oldest player ever to represent Port Adelaide in the AFL. In his latest game on Thursday night, he was 33 years and 303 days old. The next oldest player to represent the club was Brendon Lade who was 33 years and 50 days old at his last game, then Darryl Wakelin who was 33 years and 49 days old when he finished up.
- Westhoff ranks fifth for the most kicks for Port Adelaide in the AFL with 2859, second for marks with 1562, fifth for total disposals, fifth for tackles, and third for goal assists.
