Port Adelaide’s Round 1 team remains very much up in the air with five first-choice players all under injury clouds with less than two weeks remaining until the season opener against Fremantle at Subiaco.

Two players were added to the Power’s latest injury list released on Monday, after its five-point win over Sydney at Telstra Stadium.

Michael Pettigrew and Josh Mahoney both have ankle injuries and will need to prove their fitness in time for Round 1.

Pettigrew hobbled from the ground late in the second term on Friday night after a brilliant start on dangerous Sydney forward Michael O’Loughlin, while Mahoney seemed to struggle through the match and had limited game time.

They join the Burgoyne brothers – Peter and Shaun – and Dean Brogan in the group of five players listed as requiring a fitness test to determine whether they can meet the Dockers in Round 1.

Shaun has missed the last two weeks with a bruised hip, while Peter has a thigh strain and Brogan a hamstring injury. Both Peter and Brogan injured themselves at training on Wednesday.

The club was still not able to put a time frame on Warren Tredrea’s return – the skipper (with a newly shaved head) is still listed as ‘ongoing assessment’. Mark Williams has said in recent interviews he didn’t expect Tredrea to be right for Round 1.

The Power’s injury list for the week beginning Monday 19 March is as follows...

  • Dean Brogan (hamstring) – test for round one
  • Peter Burgoyne (thigh) – test for round one
  • Shaun Burgoyne (hip) – test for round one
  • Josh Mahoney (ankle) – test for round one
  • Hugh Minson (foot) – available
  • Michael Pettigrew (ankle) – test for round one
  • Matt Thomas (stomach) – available
  • Warren Tredrea (knee) – ongoing assessment
