The Port Adelaide Football Club makes the following statement in response to various media reports in recent days regarding the validity of the process used to determine its 2012 Best-and-Fairest winner.

The John Cahill medal is a prestigious club award presented annually to the Port Adelaide AFL player deemed to be its best-and-fairest player for the season.

For the sake of clarity, we again stress the voting process is managed and executed exclusively by the Football Department, with no involvement by the CEO, the PAFC Board or any other party.

In regards to the 2012 Best-and-Fairest count, having again reviewed the process and voting material thoroughly, we categorically confirm that Kane Cornes was the rightful and deserving winner of his fourth John Cahill medal.

Any suggestions or insinuations otherwise are unfounded, unsubstantiated and plain wrong.

We trust this puts the matter firmly and finally to rest.
