The fans have spoken, and Brad Ebert has taken out the Finals MG MVP for the club’s Preliminary Final against Richmond.
Ebert showed poise and courage in a tight, high-intensity finals match.
The Port Adelaide veteran found plenty of the ball, collecting 18 disposals and three clearances. He also applied the pressure with a team-high seven tackles and 14 pressure acts.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a stat for courage, but if there was, Ebert would have led that metric too. The most memorable was his effort in the final minutes of the game, running back with the flight to prevent a mark to Jack Riewoldt in Richmond’s forward 50.
Ebert needed to be helped off the ground after that collision, which turned out to be a fitting final act of his career, with the 260-gamer calling time following the game.
Coming in second place was young star forward, Connor Rozee.
Rozee was electric in front of goal, kicking two clever majors, including the first goal of the game for the Power and a clever snap from a tight angle.
The 20-year old also collected 14 disposals and laid seven tackles.
Xavier Duursma finished third in the fan vote for his efforts against the Tigers.
The young winger collected 19 disposals, had six intercepts, two tackles and a clearance.
A spirited ‘bow and arrow’ goal celebration was also unleashed after he slotted a goal late in the first quarter from a set shot 45 metres out.
Our pillar in defence, Tom Jonas came in fourth place.
The skipper lead by example on Friday night with 14 disposals, 12 contested possessions, 11 intercepts and three tackles.
Rounding out the votes this week were Scott Lycett (5th), Ollie Wines (6th), Sam Powell-Pepper (7th) and Darcy Byrne-Jones (8th).
