PORT ADELAIDE will farewell development coach Geoff Morris as a result of the impact of COVID-19 and changes to the AFL soft cap.
Morris returned to the club last year, having previously been an assistant coach to Mark Williams and part of the coaching set-up that won the 2004 AFL Premiership.
He left Port Adelaide in 2006 and spent 13 years at Hawthorn as a development coach and recruiter.
Port Adelaide General Manager – Football Chris Davies said the shifting landscape around football department spending will challenge all clubs to make changes to their football departments in 2021.
“Geoff was fantastic for our players upon arriving back at the club last year and his experience and insight was valuable within our coaching group,” Davies said.
“He is a high-quality individual and we were lucky to have him back, even for that short period of time pre-COVID.
“Geoff will always be part of the Port Adelaide family and we wish him well. I have no doubt he’ll watch our players with pride into the future”
Davies was also able to confirm Senior Football Analyst Christopher Sheedy has departed the club after eleven seasons with the club to pursue other opportunities.
Sheedy began with Port as an opposition analyst before taking on his most recent role in 2014.
