A TRIO of talented youngsters have committed themselves to Port Adelaide with 2019 draftees Miles Bergman, Mitch Georgiades and Dylan Williams agreeing to terms on respective contract extensions.
The 19-year-olds have each agreed to two-year contract extensions, keeping them at the club until the end of 2023.
Bergman was claimed with pick 14 from the Sandringham Dragons.
Named as an AFL emergency on several occasions throughout the year, the powerful and athletic utility will be hoping to push his way into the side in 2021.
Georgiades made his AFL debut in Round 1, 2020 and earned himself an AFL Rising Star nomination in the Round 9 win over Melbourne, when he booted three goals and took five strong marks.
Arriving at Alberton at pick 18 in the 2019 draft, he played a total of seven games for the year, taking 20 marks and booting eight goals.
Williams showed glimpses of his talent in front of goal in the pre-season intra club and under 23 Showdown matches.
While he was restricted by a groin injury in 2020, the crafty left-footed forward will be chasing his first taste of senior footy next year.
General Manager – Football, Chris Davies said it was pleasing to have such talented youngsters recommit to the club.
“I think a lot of our supporters will be excited by what they saw from Mitch in the games he played at AFL level in 2020,” he said.
“His running capacity and ability to take strong marks in front of goal were a real highlight and we know there is still plenty of upside in his game.
“Both Miles and Dylan have settled well in Adelaide and have become popular members of our playing group.
“Unfortunately given the restrictions placed on our club’s participation in the SANFL competition, our people would not have had much chance to see the boys in action but that did not stop them working hard on the track and making the most of their limited match simulation opportunities.
“We think Miles, Mitch and Dylan will each have a long future with the Port Adelaide Football Club and we look forward to their continued improvement over the coming seasons.”
The re-signing of Bergman, Georgiades, and Williams follows the re-contracting of defender Jarrod Lienert and forward Boyd Woodcock on Thursday.
