Port Adelaide will host a pre-season match against Carlton in Whyalla as part of the 2021 AFL Community Series.
It’s the second consecutive year Port Adelaide has hosted a game in the Upper Spencer Gulf city after playing the Western Bulldogs there earlier this year.
The game will be played at the recently redeveloped Bennett Oval.
Port Adelaide CEO Matthew Richardson said it was another great opportunity to connect with the club’s regional heartland in Whyalla, also Australia’s home to club major partner GFG and the Whyalla steelworks.
“The Port Adelaide Football Club has a long-standing relationship with the communities across the Eyre Peninsula; it’s part of our regional heartland,” Mr Richardson said.
“The area is part of our traditional recruiting zone and our membership base is also strong in Whyalla and the surrounding area.
“Whyalla is also important to us because it is the Australian home of our joint major partner GFG who have invested so much themselves in the regeneration of this community.”
The game against Carlton will take place at Bennett Oval from 4.40pm local time on Sunday 21 February.
Port Adelaide will complete its AFL Community Series campaign against Hawthorn in Launceston on Saturday 6 March 7.40pm local time.
The games will both be live on Fox Footy and the AFL Live app.
Ticketing details will be released soon.
