Forming the backbone of the Power’s midfield through his playing every game of season 2012, his football lineage - drawn from the famous Port Adelaide Ebert and Obst families - seemingly positioned him for a strong season.
Ebert’s star has risen in 2012 and he is set to remain as a staple of the Power 22 as its best contested player.
Presented by six-time Port Adelaide premiership player and three-time premiership winning coach, Stephen Williams, Ebert emphasised the honour being recognised by his teammates.
“It’s a huge honour, growing up with … the Williams family and meeting Fos himself you know how much this club means to them,” said Ebert.
“It’s a huge honour for me and to be voted by the players is amazing.”

Reflecting on his career in the AFL, Ebert said whilst it was great to be drafted to the Perth-based West Coast Eagles, it was even more so to return back to his family’s club.
“It was a good experience and I learned plenty over there,” he said.
“But it was great to be able to come back to the club.”
“There’s plenty positives here … and I’m hoping there’s more to come.”
Captain Dom Cassisi and leading goal kicker Jay Schulz were also nominated for the award.
