CONNOR ROZEE is hopeful his foot problems are over now, after a dominant six-goal performance in Port Adelaide’s internal trial on Saturday.

Rozee played 16 of Port’s 19 games last season as a partially torn plantar fascia troubled him throughout the year.

The 21-year-old has built into pre-season so far but showed no signs of difficulty with his foot as he both scored and created goals at will in the intra club game at Alberton Oval.

“It’s nice to get back feeling almost 100%,” Rozee told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“I’ve had a couple of issues over pre-season so I’ve had the last couple of weeks to get fit and ready for this weekend and hopefully I can push on and hopefully no dramas throughout the season with the foot.”

While Team Black and Team White were fairly evenly balanced in the first half, Rozee’s black side received some added experience as the coaches changed things up in the second half and ran away to win by 115 points.

Despite the margin, it was a competitive hit-out with players putting their bodies on the line as they sought to impress the coaches with games against opposition just around the corner.

“We were pretty slick early on, the skills were up and everyone was cracking in,” Rozee said.

“I think everyone was just keen to have a proper game and a proper hit-out.

“There was definitely no love lost as soon as the boys cross that line. Everyone’s playing for a spot at the moment, there’s spots up for grabs for Round 1 and everyone’s trying to impress.

“Everyone played really competitively.”

Rozee said it was exciting to have supporters at the game, despite it being restricted to just Club 1870 and Life Members.

Also exciting, according to Rozee, was the young talent on show during the intra-club game with first-year players Ollie Lord, Lachie Jones and Taj Schofield showing glimpses of their talent along with second-year players like Mitch Georgiades, Miles Bergman and Dylan Williams.

“It’s really exiting. I feel like almost an older one, now that we’ve got all of these young boys coming in,” Rozee explained.

“We’ve got Lachie Jones who had a ripper day, and it’s not only the draft we just had but the year before with Dylan Williams and those sorts who are really pushing for selection.

“I think it’s good to have the competitive nature for spots and everyone pushing for selection for Round 1.

“It’s good to have that youth as well as experience. I think that’ll help us later in the season.”
