Two tough youngsters who were Power success stories in 2006 have been included in Port Adelaide’s 25-man squad for Sunday's game and will be hoping to squeeze their way into the Power’s 22 for the first time this year.

Adam Thomson and Nick Lower both made their mark at AFL level last year but a reduced injury list hasn’t helped them force their way back into the team in 2007.

The duo has been included on a seven-man interchange bench for Sunday’s Round 12 clash with Essendon.

They will learn if they remain on the bench or become emergencies when the side is reduced to 22 at 4.30pm on Friday.

There will be at least one change to last week’s side that was well beaten by Carlton.

Nathan Krakouer has been dropped for the third time this year and will be replaced by one of Thomson, Lower, Greg Bentley, who was the club’s SANFL Player of the Week last week, or Travis Boak.

Bentley was dropped last week after playing eight consecutive Power games, while Boak has been an emergency for the past five weeks in a row and is still looking for his AFL debut. Both were in great SANFL form on the weekend.

The Power has its final training session of the week at midday at AAMI Stadium on Friday.

The Power 25, from which 22 will face Essendon on Saturday night, is as follows...

B: Michael Wilson, Darryl Wakelin, Toby Thurstans
HB: Brad Symes, Chad Cornes, Jacob Surjan
C: Dom Cassisi, Shaun Burgoyne, Steven Salopek
HF: Peter Burgoyne, Warren Tredrea, Danyle Pearce
F: Brett Ebert, Damon White, Justin Westhoff
Foll: Brendon Lade, Kane Cornes, David Rodan
Interchange from: Greg Bentley, Travis Boak, Dean Brogan, Robert Gray, Nick Lower, Michael Pettigrew, Adam Thomson

IN: Bentley, Boak, Lower, Thomson
OUT: Krakouer (omitted)

Reminder of AFL rules when teams play on Sunday: On Thursday nights, teams playing on Sundays are only required to submit a squad of 25. On Friday nights teams re-submit their final 22, although the 18 players named to start on the field are required to remain the same, with three players who were named on the seven-man bench becoming the emergencies. Only extenuating circumstances such as late injuries can change this practice.
