BEN EDWARDS has been a regular on the scoresheet in recent weeks for Port Adelaide, and he is loving it.
The SANFL-listed forward has booted seven goals in the past two games for the Magpies and they’ve come at crucial moments.
On Sunday afternoon against Woodville-West Torrens, Edwards snagged four majors in the second quarter when the game was there to be won.
“It was really good, probably the best performance we've had all year and it was good to put a together a four-quarter performance together and get a good win,” Edwards told portadelaidefc.com.au.
“Especially against the Eagles who won the flag last year, they're a quality team.
"I left it all in one quarter and was trying to get another one, but it was down to the midfield.
“It was beautiful coming in, take what you can as there's a few times it doesn't come in that well, so you take it when it comes.”
Only a week earlier, Edwards kicked three goals in the loss to Glenelg, including one a dribble kick from the pocket which was nominated for SANFL Goal of the Week.
“I didn't see it go through, I snapped it and the Magpies faithful started cheering behind the goals. I probably don't think I'll do it again,” he smiled.
Edwards, who won the Division 1 leading goalkicker award while playing with Adelaide Uni in 2020 with 34 goals, said he is thoroughly enjoying his time at the club.
“It's awesome,” he said.
“You can learn off the AFL boys and get that coaching from Lokes (Matthew Lokan), [Michael] Vossy and Kenny (Hinkley), and playing with blokes like Lieno (Jarrod Lienert) and Sutts (Cam Sutcliffe) and all those boys.”
Edwards next look at the big sticks will come this Saturday at Adelaide Oval as the Magpies play the curtain-raiser in a Showdown double-header from 3:35pm.
