IN 2011 the AFL has introduced a new rule that will see the interchange bench changed from four players to three plus a substitute.

The sub can be introduced at any time throughout the game, but the person they replace can take no further part in the game.

Debate around the new rule has been healthy and as the season approaches, the question everyone is asking is, "what type of player will the sub be?"

Some are suggesting versatility is the most important aspect to the sub, while others argue the sub needs to be a hard-running midfielder, who can make an impact with fresh legs in the second half.

Where do you stand in the debate? What type of player should the sub be? Which player or players from the Power, do you think will make a good sub?
