Allan set to miss opener for Redlegs
James Allan is unlikely to play Port Adelaide when Norwood hosts the Magpies in the SANFL season opener at the Parade.
Allan, who joined the Redlegs after a season away from the SANFL and a prolific career at North Adelaide, has injured his big toe which will sideline him from the key Round 1 fixture between the two traditional rivals.
Norwood’s football manager Mark Ross told the SANFL website Allan would miss up to a month of football.
"He’s got a growth inside his toe so he will be out for at least three or four weeks," Ross said.
"The surgery is not the problem, it is the healing of his toe once you split it open (for surgery). So as long as that takes to heal, he could be out for.
"He definitely won’t play round one.
"We thought it was better off he have surgery now to get it right so he is 100 per cent.”
