ANDREW MOORE will be ineligible to play football - at any level - until mid-May after being slapped with a three-game suspension for making contact with an umpire in the SANFL last Saturday.
Moore pleaded guilty for making intentional contact with umpire Craig Fleer after the quarter-time siren of Port Adelaide's 36-point win over North Adelaide.
Having entered the guilty plea, it was left to the SANFL's incident review panel to determine a penalty.
It means Moore, who had 26 touches and kicked two goals against the Roosters, will be eligible for a return on Sunday 17 May against either Brisbane in the AFL or the Crows in the SANFL.
An appeal is likely, although Port Adelaide's general manager - football Chris Davies will reserve his decision until Wednesday morning.
“We’re disappointed with tonight's decision and I think it’s likely that we’ll lodge an appeal with the tribunal," Davies told portadelaidefc.com.au.
“However, it’s sensible for us to weigh up all our options overnight and we’ll make a final decision tomorrow morning on whether to take action."
Moore told the SANFL Tribunal no malice was intended towards Fleer in the incident as he attempted to demonstrate a previous incident with North player Heath Caldwell.
This evidence was rejected by the tribunal chairman Ian White and fellow panel members David Swain and Tom Hurley.
portadelaidefc.com.au will have further updates on any appeal lodgement on Wednesday.
