PORT ADELAIDE’s Ollie Wines and Connor Rozee were the only Port Adelaide players to receive votes from the coaches as part of the AFL Coaches Association AFL Champion Player of the Year Award after Thursday’s disappointing loss to Geelong.
Both Wines and Rozee received four votes for their starring performances in the 21-point defeat.
Wines was the leading disposal winner on the ground with 29 including 13 contested.
The Port Adelaide vice-captain also had five marks, six tackles and seven clearances along with 614 metres gained.
He booted an important third-quarter goal and also had 11 score involvements.
Rozee was the stand-out player in the first quarter. The 21-year-old was in blistering form early with four goals in the opening term. He booted a fifth in the last quarter with one of his 16 disposals.
Rozee also had three tackles, three marks and eight score involvements.
Geelong forward Jeremy Cameron polled the perfect ten votes for his five-goal haul, while fellow tall forward Tom Hawkins was among four other Cats to receive votes.
With the votes from Monday’s game between Melbourne and Collingwood to come, Cameron is the only player to receive ten votes for Round 13 – a round in which several teams have the bye.
Wines has moved into joint fifth position overall, trailing the vote leader Clayton Oliver (Melbourne) by 18 votes.
