PORT ADELAIDE’s Ollie Wines has closed to within eight votes of the leader in the AFL Coaches Association AFL Champion Player of the Year Award after a best on ground showing in Saturday’s win over Gold Coast.
Wines was given the perfect ten votes after racking up a career high 43 disposals.
He added six tackles and five intercepts to go with five clearances and six score involvements and finished with 699 metres gained.
Defender Aliir Aliir and forward Steven Motlop each got seven votes for their starring performances at either end of the ground.
Connor Rozee and Karl Amon each got two votes and Willem Drew one.
Sun Touk Miller was his side’s only vote getter with a single vote from the coaches.
Wines joined GWS forward Toby Greene and Essendon’s Jake Stringer with perfect votes from Round 13.
Wines now sits third in the coaches count, eight votes behind the lead of Melbourne's Clayton Oliver and just six votes shy of Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli.
