GUTSY Port Adelaide defender Jacob Surjan has been announced as a finalist for the 2009 AFL Army Award.

Surjan was nominated for his inspirational spoil, chase and smother on dangerous Eagles' forward Mark LeCras in Round 16.

The award is voted on by you, the fans, so make sure you get behind Surj and vote for him. You can watch the smother and vote here.

Surjan has also been nominated for the AFL Players' Association MVP award, which is voted on by his peers. Domenic Cassisi and Kane Cornes were the other two Power players to be nominated.

Players will now vote as to which of the 48 nominees (three from each club) deserves to be this year's MVP. Players cannot vote for their own teammates.

Cassisi has also been nominated for the Robert Rose Award for Most Courageous player and the Best Captain Award. Hamish Hartlett was the Power's nomination as Best First Year Player.

The AFLPA awards will be announced tonight (Fox Sports 1 from 9.30pm).
