PORT ADELAIDE forward Robbie Gray was among three Power players to receive votes in the 2018 SHADFORTH FINANCIAL GROUP AFLCA CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD after his side’s loss to Adelaide on Saturday evening.
Gray polled eight votes after being named best on
Gray booted four goals to go with 20 disposals – 12 of them contested - and five marks.
The 30-year-old also had seven clearances, and three inside
Gray’s teammate Chad Wingard was given two votes for his 16-possession, four-goal effort, while young defender Dan Houston got one vote after his 21 touches and eight marks.
Adelaide’s Matt Crouch was judged to have had the perfect game, earning 10 votes from the coaches, while Josh Jenkins (six), Bryce Gibbs (two) and Tom Doedee (one) shared in the remaining votes from the game.
Along with Crouch, Lance Franklin (Sydney), Jason Johannisen (Western Bulldogs), Josh Kelly (GWS), Tim Kelly (Geelong), Clayton Oliver (Melbourne) and Elliot Yeo (West Coast) all received the maximum 10 votes from the AFL coaches for Round 20.
Last week’s overall leader Max Gawn failed to poll any votes in his side’s win over Gold Coast and so Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell, who polled eight votes against Essendon, has overtaken the outright lead.
