Originally hailing from Ballarat, Lachie Charleson was selected by Port Adelaide with its second pick in the 2023 AFL National Draft (52 overall). Charleson was known as one of the best applicators of defensive pressure in the 2023 draft pool, with his speed and intensity, including a penchant for big goal celebrations a feature of his game.
The 19-year-old Victorian forward has benefited from training alongside fellow pressure forwards Willie Rioli and Darcy Byrne-Jones, putting in some strong SANFL performances including 19 disposals and two goals in Round 5. Charleson will look to improve his consistency in 2025 with the aim of making his AFL debut.

The Port Adelaide Football Club acknowledges the land on which we train and play, are based on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of Australia and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living people today.
