Speedy defender Logan Evans was selected by Port Adelaide with pick 12 in the 2024 mid-season rookie draft. The 18-year-old was connected to Port Adelaide through the SANFL Rookie Program, which allowed him to train with the AFL side and benefit from the experience of an elite sporting environment. He caught the eye of Port Adelaide recruiters with his ability to read the ball and compete aerially, as well as his clean hands and smart ball use.
Despite being overlooked in the 2023 national draft, Evans impressed with his speed and leap in the 2023 draft combine, placing among the top three in the running vertical jump (88cm) and 20-metre sprint (3.063 seconds).
Noted for being mature for his age and proven to be a good cultural fit, Evans will continue to work at his craft. He made his AFL debut in Round 15, 2024 - just a few weeks after being drafted. He recorded 20 disposals and 424 metres gained, showing significant potential in Port Adelaide's backline. His impressive debut year was capped off with a Rising Star nomination in Round 24.
