Cheyenne Hammond returned to her home state of South Australia after joining Port Adelaide from the Gold Coast Suns. Hammond’s running capacity and versatility to play either on the wing or off half-back makes her a valuable asset to Port Adelaide’s young side. She loves the run and carry game and has had a number of memorable ‘never give up’ moments in her first two seasons at Alberton that impressed the Port Adelaide faithful.
The 25-year-old previously played soccer for Adelaide United in 2016 – which perhaps helps explain her impressive outside speed – however decided to make the switch to footy shortly after. Taking the change in her stride, she was voted best on ground in the 2018 SANFLW grand final and went on to play 22 games at AFLW level for Gold Coast before making the move to Alberton. With a good number of senior games now under her belt, the speedy talent looks to continue her good form in 2024.

The Port Adelaide Football Club acknowledges the land on which we train and play, are based on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of Australia and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living people today.
