Widely hailed as one of the best intercept defenders in the league, Janelle Cuthbertson joined Port Adelaide as a priority signing ahead of the 2023 AFLW season. Standing at 175 centimetres, the talented tall had a flourishing tennis career before making the decision to switch codes – quickly making an impact on the league. Playing 24 games for Fremantle spanning a four-season career, Cuthbertson was named All-Australian following a breakout year in 2021.
She was named captain ahead of the 2024 season, owing to her strong connection with her teammates and natural leadership on and off the field.
