Indy Tahau is a young South Australian talent and a player with a huge amount of potential Prior to joining her first AFLW club in the Brisbane Lions, Tahau played at South Adelaide in the SANFLW and was named best on ground in the 2019 grand final at just 16 years of age.
The 21-year-old has got an impressive jump on her footballing career, currently holding a good amount of senior games under her belt – including a grand final win in 2021 where she lined up alongside Port Adelaide head coach Lauren Arnell.
Described as a ‘true utility’, Tahau has shown talent in all areas of the ground. She has spent the majority of her senior games in the backline where her strong overhead and excellent ground level pressure has helped her excel, however has shown a strong appetite for goal as well. In Season Seven she led Port Adelaide for contested marks and intercept possessions, owing to her strong set of hands and natural football instincts. Her impressive form was rewarded with a Rising Star nomination in Round 10 in the same year. Her 2023 season was unfortunately cut short by an ACL injury, with the versatile talent looking to bounce back bigger and better in 2024.
