Attacking defender Sarah Goodwin was picked up by Port Adelaide with pick 7 in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft, joining the club as its second-ever AFLW draft pick. Coming from Glenelg in the SANFLW, the savvy contested ball-winner was a vital player in the Tigers’ backline, but also impressed with her ability to make an additional impact through the middle.
Goodwin made her AFLW debut against Sydney in Round 4, contributing to the club’s first ever AFLW win. She went on to play another four games on the year, able to show flashes of her speed and footy smarts. With a number of senior games now in the bank, hard work and a productive pre-season could see Goodwin poised for more game time in 2023.
