THREE players offer their perspectives on Port Adelaide's win and what it means for the Power.

Chad Wingard

The backs really held up, the boys fought really hard all over the ground all day. We’ve got another chance this week against GWS to beat a top eight team, which we’re looking forward to. We’re not going to talk about finals, we’re just going to take on each opponent each week and try to get the win. The boys came out in the first quarter and put the pressure on straight away, that’s something we want to do.

It’s always nice to hit the scoreboard personally, but I’m the by-product of what the rest of the team does and the game was the result of really good connection from the backs to the mids to the forwards. We played tough, hard footy from start-to-end and it was really nice to get a win over a top eight side.

We know that our footy builds on our tough inside work and defensive pressure. When we do that well we use the ball well, we turn the ball over from the opposition in better areas of the ground. The mids were sensational – tough inside – and North pride themselves on that, so it was really good for our mids to win there.

Ollie Wines

We’ve been searching for a four-quarter performance against a top eight team. We got a little shaky in the second half, but we got our composure back and finished the game off. Finals are long-shot, but when we’ve got nothing to lose we seem to play better.

We’ve just got to keep playing consistent footy, we’ve let ourselves down playing inconsistent through games.

A fair bit [of the result] came down to our start. I think we were able to bring the energy early, kick the first four goals and take the momentum from there.
