KEN HINKLEY was short and to-the-point in his post-match assessment of the Power's 28-point win over North Melbourne...
On the Power’s effort…
We don’t do anything unless we have got work rate. That’s what we are as a football team, we have to work really hard and we’re proud of that when we get results. When we don’t work at that rate, we get the other results that we don’t like.
On the build-up…
We thought we had a pretty good week, but I’m not a predictor of form by how we’ve led into the game, or how we’ve started the game. But we certainly started today with some real venom. We went real hard at it and got the result we wanted.
On the win itself…
We’ve beaten a top eight side. Until you do it, eventually you can’t say anything except ‘just do it.’ Next week get an opportunity to do it again - we’ve got GWS – so we look forward to trying to make that two.
On what it means…
We were close to three years younger than North Melbourne today and 70 games of experience, so that’s a significant number. We had a young backline with Clurey, Darcy Byrne-Jones playing roles down there. We’re really proud of the fact they’ve been able to stand up for us and every game they play for us has been good for our football club.
On the Power’s consistency…
We’ve got to work ourselves into a position where we can play consistently week-in, week-out. The ladder position, finals, those things are interesting to others, and I understand that. They’re interesting to us at the right time, but we just can’t afford to go anywhere but next week.
On the Power’s ruck stocks…
‘Lobbes’ is back [Sunday] with the Magpies, but Jacko – we couldn’t have asked any more of him. I reckon he [Trengove] will want to stay in the ruck, we talked about potentially using him as a tall back this week because we knew how tall they [North] were going to be, but he said ‘No, leave me back in the ruck.’ I like it when a player says no… he got it done.
