Selection: Burgoyne, Carr out for Power
Port Adelaide has omitted Josh Carr and Peter Burgoyne for Sunday's must-win clash against West Coast at AAMI Stadium.
Into the squad of 25 come Travis Boak, Matthew Broadbent, Nick Lower, Nick Salter and Matt Thomas.
Boak – who is returning from five weeks on the sideline with a knee injury – has been named on the wing in the starting 18, while the other four inclusions have been named on an extended seven-man bench.
Broadbent, 18, will make his AFL debut if selected, while key forward Salter would make his first appearance for 2009, after playing two games as a rookie last season. Thomas has had one match back in the SANFL since injuring his knee in round 10, while Lower has had consistently good form with Norwood.
Power Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde says Carr and Burgoyne had poor games on the weekend against Melbourne, but may not be the only changes to the team.
“Josh and Peter had poor games on the weekend, but they certainly weren’t the only ones,” Rohde said.
“We have players coming back from injury and in good form in the SANFL and they are all knocking on the door.
“The five players included at selection give us plenty of options to consider before finalising our team tomorrow.”
The Power will hold their final training session at 11am tomorrow at AAMI Stadium, with the final team to take on the Eagles named tomorrow afternoon.
