BROWNLOW medallist Ollie Wines headlines a list of Port Adelaide players going under the knife in the off-season but his preparation for 2022 is not expected to be impacted.
Two days after his historic and record-breaking Brownlow win, Wines went in for a minor arthroscope to clean up the cartilage in his left knee.
Fellow midfielder Travis Boak - who polled a career-best 25 votes at Sunday’s Brownlow – has returned to Adelaide for a similar procedure on his right knee.
Forward Orazio Fantasia is scheduled to have a tidy up of both knees to have him available to return to full training over the next few months, while his fellow 2021 recruit Aliir Aliir will have a minor clean out of his left knee and be training again by November.
Willem Drew has had some scar tissue cleaned up in his right ankle and forward Steven Motlop will undergo a similar procedure to his left ankle.
Ruckman Sam Hayes has had an arthroscope to clean up the medial meniscus in his right knee. The 22-year-old has already commenced rehabilitation in the gym and is on track to be available for the start of pre-season training in late November.
Miles Bergman will undergo a Latarjet stabilisation to his right shoulder, but the procedure is unlikely to impact his preparation for season 2022.
Players are now on leave with a date for their return to be confirmed soon.
