DOWN at Alberton on a Wednesday? Swing by the Oval to see the Magpies train.
Chad Cornes has been overseeing training ahead of his first season as senior coach for Port Adelaide in the SANFL.
He's been impressed by the commitment shown on the training track by senior Magpies.
"Our skipper Steve Summerton has really impressed me," Cornes told members at Alberton last Friday.
"I’d never met him before, but his passion for the club, and how much he wants success for the Magpies really blew me away.
"On the track, 'Biemo' [Anthony Biemans], Louis Sharrad, Jonathon Ross, Robbie Young – I hate individualising because all of the boys are having a real crack and really trying to impress me."
Port Adelaide is yet to finalise its senior list for the 2016 SANFL season, but will be afforded the chance to upgrade some of its Academy players to senior contracts during the year.
That will mean competition on the track remains tight, as Academy players pushing for senior selection vie for the attention of Cornes and his senior coaching panel, consisting of Stuart Cochrane, Jacob Surjan and Trent Hentschel.
Port Adelaide SANFL training sessions are held from 5:00pm each Wednesday night.
