THE 2017 Free Agency and Trade Periods have ended with the Port Adelaide Football Club pleased to sign big name trio Tom Rockliff, Steven Motlop and Jack Watts.
General Manager of Football, Chris Davies, says the Power achieved what it set out to.
“Jason Cripps and his list management team put a lot of preparation in during the year and were able to execute the deals they planned for,” Davies said.
“They identified Tom and Steven some time ago as free agents who we were interested in bringing to the club.
“Jack Watts’ availability became apparent
Davies says he’s confident Port Adelaide has strengthened its list but warns that doesn’t guarantee success.
“There’s a lot of hard work, and a bit of luck, that goes into being successful," Davies said.
“We as a playing list, as a football department and as a club have all of that ahead of us, starting when the group comes back for pre-season in late November.”
While welcoming three new players to the club, Port Adelaide also farewells Jackson Trengove, Jarman Impey, Brendon Ah Chee, Matthew Lobbe, Aaron Young and Logan Austin who successfully sought greater playing opportunities at other clubs.
Davies thanked the outgoing players for their positive contributions at Alberton, wishing them well for their futures in football and in life.
Port Adelaide currently holds picks 46, 49, 59, 62, 63, 86 and 95 in the 2017 National Draft. The club continues to review its playing list and will communicate any further changes when appropriate.
