5. Phillips launches Power women's team bid
Erin Phillips stunned Australia with the announcement she'd give up her basketball career (highlighted by two WNBA championships, an Olympic silver and world championship and commonwealth gold medals) if Port had a women's team. The daughter of former Port Adelaide captain Greg Phillips committed to joining Port Adelaide as a player if it is awarded a licence for the national women's competition. Read more
4. New wings for Wingard
In a week of key announcements, none were bigger than Chad Wingard's three-year contract extension. The deal will keep him at Port Adelaide until at least the end of the 2019 season - along with fellow All-Australian Robbie Gray and skipper Travis Boak - at which point he'll be 26 years old. 3. Boak pens new deal
Boak's contract was the most talked about announcement, with the Power captain all-but-certain to be a Port Adelaide man for life. He'll be well over 30 when his contract next expires. Read more
