Behind Enemy Lines: Clark and Trengove on the edge of selection
Melbourne co-captain Jack Trengove and forward Mitch Clark are available for selection in the Demons side for round one.
According to melbournefc.com.au, the pair have been struck from the injury list and will be available for selection.
The pair played three quarters for Melbourne's VFL affiliate Casey last week and will be evaluated prior to selection on Thursday night.
Talls Chris Dawes and Tom McDonald - both out previously with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively - will also be tested this week.
But Rohan Ball is still likely to miss the game.
“A decision will be made during the week on whether they (Trengove and Clark) are ready for AFL,” Demons football manager Josh Mahoney told the official Melbourne website.
"Chris (Dawes) and Tom (McDonald) will be joining full training, and they will be monitored during the week."
Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley told reporters earlier this week that around 30 players would be available for selection in the Power's Round 1 side.
It comes on the back of news that only two players - Nick Salter and Brendon Ah Chee - remain hampered by injury.
Both the Port Adelaide and Melbourne sides will be released on Thursday night.
