Power Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde met with Burgoyne’s manager this morning, where the request was tabled.
Rohde said: “ Shaun Burgoyne and his manager informed us this morning that he would like to be traded to a Melbourne-based club. At this stage no particular club has been identified.
“Our position is that Shaun is a required player and that he will only be traded if a favourable trade for the Port Adelaide Football Club is forthcoming.”
Burgoyne, 26, has played 157 games with the Power since debuting in 2002. He was recruited with pick 12 in the National Draft at the end of the 2000 season.
Burgoyne played in the Power’s 2004 premiership side and finished second in the club’s 2006 best-and-fairest count, a year he also won All-Australian selection. He also played in the 2008 ‘Dream Team’ against Victoria
