Choco Uncut – Round 12
Mark Williams considers Sunday’s game against Essendon as the best ‘team-oriented’ game Chad Cornes has ever played.
Roy
MARK WILLIAMS: We’d like to think that happens every week. The intensity is brought by the mindset of the players and they were certainly ready to play this week which was great in what was such an important game – in part for Tredders but more so for the whole team.---Hi Choco, great win last night - just wondering what the plans are for the week off? Any trips or camps lined up?
paul
MARK WILLIAMS: No, just lots of hard work and lots of preparation for the second half of the year. To give you an idea of what we do.... from 9pm onwards on Sunday night we (the coaches) were reviewing the game, we finished late Sunday night, or actually early Monday morning. Then from 8am Monday morning the coaches get together and then we work until 5.30pm at night. Then on Tuesday and Thursday we’re going to be doing mid-season reviews where we will be looking at what went right and what went wrong and what we’re going to be looking forward to doing in the second half of the year. Wednesday’s a training day as is Thursday morning. Then Friday is a day off for everyone so hopefully that one extra day plus the weekend off will really refresh the batteries and get everyone firing for the second half of the year.
---Gday Chocco Great 3 quarters of footy on sunday. What Happened in the last quarter? Were you experimenting with something else? Good to see Wazza first mark and goal.
John McFarlane
MARK WILLIAMS: Facts are to win four quarters of football these days is very, very difficult. Even last week when we played particularly poorly, we dominated the last quarter. We made some mistakes, we turned over the ball, we lost the stoppages that we had been dominating all night, we also had limited rotations off the bench and we tried to play some players in some different spots so if you add all that together... hopefully the small amount of experimentation will hold us in good stead for the future.---Chocco, I thought Peter looked really solid off half back and played one of his better games for the year. Can we expect to see more of this after the break?
Terry Johenki
MARK WILLIAMS: Peter’s very versatile – whether it’s out of the goalsquare up forward, through the midfield or out the back, he’s such a creative player so we’ll use him where we think it’s best for the side. He’s very team orientated and very happy to play wherever we place him and we think he played particularly well (on Sunday).---CHOCO’S PLAYER OF THE DAY: Chad CornesMARK WILLIAMS: This is very tough. I thought Chad on James Hird was probably his best game for the club in regard to doing team-orientated, team-first stuff. It wasn’t just an outstanding game, it was designated that his role was to play on a champion and beat a champion. But to not mention the roles of Robbie Gray with four goals in the first half, and I thought Justin Westhoff created probably four goals and kicked a couple himself and was involved in a lot of the positive play for our side, which was great. Dom Cassisi had career-high possessions. So it is a really difficult task but to go back and re-emphasise the fact that Chad did what he was supposed to do and the team won so I’ll pick Chad. You can win a $29 PrePay recharge voucher and $9.95 starter pack thanks to Vodafone, as well as a $50 Power Gear Shop voucher by predicting Choco’s player of the day.
