ROBBIE GRAY and Miles Bergman headline a list of players in the mix for AFL selection for Thursday night’s clash with premier Melbourne.

Gray missed the Round 2 game against Hawthorn with a knee injury and was forced to sit out the Showdown under the AFL’s Health and Safety protocols but will come into consideration to face the Demons.

Having had off-season shoulder surgery, Bergman was among the better performers in Port Adelaide’s SANFL season-opener against Adelaide on Friday evening in just his second competitive hit-out of the year.

The 20-year-old had 21 disposals, four tackles, four clearances, and seven inside 50s, showing he is ready to return to the AFL side if required.

Off-season recruit Trent Dumont was taken off at half time of the SANFL game as a hold-over emergency for the AFL side but still managed 13 disposals and three tackles as he pushes for a club AFL debut.

Selectors may also opt to bring in Sam Hayes for his AFL debut as a second ruck option to help Scott Lycett against one of the best ruck duos in the competition in Max Gawn and Luke Jackson. Hayes had a game-high 25 hit-outs to go with four clearances and nine disposals as the Magpies went down to the Crows.

Defender Jake Pasini continued his solid form with 20 disposals, seven marks, and 10 rebound 50s on a day where the ball spent a lot of time in his zone.

Wingman Xavier Duursma came off with neck injury in the third quarter but if cleared to continue, could come into contention for an AFL return, while forward Jeremy Finlayson booted 1.1 from limited opportunities and had 14 disposals, three marks and four tackles on a difficult day at Adelaide Oval.

Port Adelaide will name its AFL side to face the Demons on Wednesday evening.
