PORT ADELAIDE suffered a 48-point loss to Brisbane in wet conditions at Adelaide Oval on Sunday evening. Here are some of the talking points.
Midfield battle key to Port success:
The numbers eventually looked okay for the Power, but in the first quarter Brisbane completely dominated the key indicators.
In that time, the Lions piled on seven goals to nothing and it was always going to be a tough ask to bridge the gap in wet conditions.
Butters will become a very classy player:
With the Power trailing by 39 points midway through the third quarter, Zak Butters hit the contest at pace and kicked one of the goals of the night.
Sam Powell-Pepper launched the ball inside 50 to a pack before Butters crumbed and expertly slotted the drop punt from a tight angle to spark the home crowd.

Efficiency still an issue for the Power:
Despite the 48-point loss, Port only had one less inside 50 than Brisbane on Sunday evening (54-55).
From those 54 inside 50 entries, the Power had 19 scoring shots. Every 2.9 forward entries would result in a score, with a goal kicked every nine entries on average.
Port were only able to take six inside 50 marks, compared to Brisbane’s 12.
