PORT ADELAIDE has bolstered its list with the selection of promising ruckman/forward Brynn Teakle at the 2022 NAB AFL Mid-Season Draft.
Teakle’s name was called with the eighth pick of the night as the club’s only selection.
A highly skilled 203cm big man, Teakle is averaging 14.7 disposals and 18.2 hit-outs per game playing for East Fremantle in the WAFL this season.
The Western Australian has also averaged 3.8 marks and a goal per game.
Having previously trialled for a rookie spot with Essendon ahead of the 2020 season, the 22-year-old has added size to his now 97kg frame since training with the Bombers and is renowned for his agility and foot skills.
National Recruiting Manager Geoff Parker says Port Adelaide had kept an eye on Teakle over the past four or five years.
“In that time Brynn’s body has matured and his ruck craft has developed really well,” Parker said.
“He hunts the ball well at ground level and he can go forward, mark and kick a goal.
“We’re excited about what he can bring to our club, and look forward to welcoming him to Adelaide soon.”
A talented junior athlete, Teakle played basketball and waterpolo and was good at rowing, swimming, cross country running and athletics before narrowing his focus to football.
He has recently been studying to be a personal trainer.
Port Adelaide has previously claimed Cam Sutcliffe (2019) and Jed McEntee (2021) through the mid-season rookie draft.
