AUSTRALIA Plus is the new home of AFL in the Asia-Pacific region after the league signed a new deal that will see the wide brown land's No. 1 sport spread to a massive international audience from 2015.
Six matches will be broadcast on the new multiplatform Australia Plus network each week during the premiership season, as well as all finals series matches.
A weekly highlights program will be shown across 28 weeks of the season, as well as all matches of the NAB Challenge broadcast by Fox Footy.
The AFL brokered the deal with ABC International, which owns the new Australia Plus network, to beam the competition into digital platforms including online, mobile and social media-based services in 28 key markets, including Hong Kong where Port Adelaide maintains a strong business and commercial linkage.
Shanghai audiences will also have access to the 2015 finals series.
"2015 is set to be the biggest year ever for AFL coverage in Asia and the Pacific with an additional 40 million people in the region having access to our weekly coverage on Australia Plus Television," says Patrick Emmett, head of television at ABC International.
“This year we welcome new AFL fans across India, South Korea and Japan and look forward to bringing all the colour and excitement of the final series to Chinese audiences in the Shanghai region.
Eurosport Asia/Pacific will show one delayed match and a highlights package each week.
