PORT Adelaide has left Woodville empty handed by going down to Woodville-West Torrens by 60 points.

The Eagles’ win was set up with a dominant second term, where they booted five goals to one and never looked back.

The Magpies had enjoyed the return of some much-needed tall timber, with Scott Lycett back for his first game in three months in addition to Sam Hayes and Sam Skinner.

With a bit more experience around the ball, the Magpies drew first blood, as Cam Sutcliffe ran inside 50 and went bang inside the first 60 seconds.

After a missed opportunity from Dante Visentini, Lycett marked his return with a roost from the 50-metre arc and the Magpies’ lead was out to 13.

The Eagles found their way back into the contest despite Port’s domination, through Daniel Menzel’s first of the afternoon.

The experience of Steven Motlop and Xavier Duursma kept pumping the ball into Port’s 50, but the Eagles flooded the defence and were able to rebound.

The Magpies’ dominance was rewarded with a nine-point lead, but it could’ve been more with multiple shots landing out on the full.

Jesse Lonergan opened the scoring in the second term for the hosts, but Port quickly responded through Anthony Wilson.

Wilson found himself on his own in the forward 50 and took the opportunity to convert the set shot.

From then, it was all the hosts.

Menzel went bang, bang and bang for three goals on the trot and blew the game apart and Port’s nine-point lead quickly turned into a 11-point deficit.

The Magpies had no answers in defence for Menzel and it continued as Sam Rowland added to the Eagles’ rampage.

Port trailed by 18 points at the main change with plenty left to ponder.

Menzel looked as if he’d continue his dominance up forward, but missed the first set shot of the third, before Riley Knight converted for the first of the third.

Menzel had his fifth moments later from a snap out of nothing and the difference was 31 points.

Port continued to struggle to rebound the ball out of defence as the Eagles peppered the goal, without much luck.

Menzel missed an opportunity, before Lycett sent a set shot to the left of goal after receiving a free kick.

Rowland and Cam Ellis-Yolmen also missed opportunities and the Eagles lead was extended out to 33 points at the final break.

The Eagles were dominating in the midfield, winning the hit-outs, clearances and inside 50s comfortably at the three-quarter-time break.

The Magpies continued to struggle in their forward half to find opportunities as the Eagles pressed aggressively.

Lonergan booted his second from the square, before Menzel slotted his sixth on the run to blow the margin out to 46 points early in the last.

Taj Schofield broke Port’s goalless drought 12 minutes into the last as he crumbed of a pack before strolling into 50 and converting with a clean finish.

However, the Eagles responded in a heartbeat through Luke Beecken and again through Jake Comitogianni.

Yet, the hosts weren’t done as Menzel later secured his seventh.

For the visitors, Steven Motlop responded to his omission from the AFL side with 31 touches, eight clearances and eight inside 50s, while Dylan Williams had 24 disposals with his 10 rebound 50s.
