On the overall performance:
“It was a strong four-quarter performance which I was really proud of. We talk about team all the time. You just need to do your job. If you turn up and do your job well collectively, you give yourselves the best opportunity to get the win.”
“We understand why we’ve been under a lot of pressure and we’ve soaked that pressure up, and the response of the group tonight, I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
“For us, to come out and play the style of football that we know is Port Adelaide – we have to be strong in the contest all night. We’re going to make some mistakes, but we need to stick together and keep pushing.”
On Polec:
“I was particularly pleased with Jared because after almost a throw-away line at the airport, Jared has been put under enormous pressure from the coach – that wasn’t the case. But it was an honest conversation and you have to turn up and play the way we want you to play if you want to be in the team. He certainly did that.”
On Krakouer:
“Krak’s played basically a half of football this year. It was a big show of faith from the match committee to pick Krak, but I said when he made his mistake, Krak is a really good person and he won’t want to let people down, that’s not the way he operates.”
“He’s a really composed footballer. He’s got some belief and some real ability. I thought we structurally coached him really well to get him in the right spots at the right times
On the forward line:
“The forward line operates at its best when the team operates at its best, and that’s no different to any other team. The forward line has to rely on how the ball comes in to them and if they’re all moving and working hard together to create opportunities, we’ll take those opportunities eventually.”
