On how we won:
“The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a challenge, we haven’t played the footy we wanted, but the boys came out tonight and there was a real focus on getting our team roles right.
“I thought tonight we had a real four quarter effort from the whole group, which was outstanding.”
“We knew the pressure was on them (Richmond) as well, but we really stuck to our processes. We just have to stick with playing our role and nothing more than that and I thought they really dug in and fought hard.”
On Dougal Howard and Nathan Krakouer returning:
“For Doogs to come in as a second year player and ruck hard against three opponents was great. We know the taller guys take a bit longer to develop but the key was that he came in and competed tonight.”
“For Krak to come out and prove to the group that he wants to be a part of it was great. We know he made a mistake earlier in the year but he made up for that and we’re really proud of him.”
Ollie Wines
On the pressure in Adelaide:
“It’s been a tough couple of weeks for us. Footy in Adelaide is pretty full on and we haven’t been playing the way we like. It wasn’t pretty tonight, but it was traditional Port Adelaide footy – tough, manic pressure on the ball – and we were able to grind it out.”
On injuries and the players coming in to the side:
“We want to be one of those teams like Hawthorn or Geelong, it doesn’t matter who’s wearing the jumper, they’ll play their role and do 100% for the team. We didn’t really have any standouts tonight, we all just played our role and got the job done.”
“We want anyone who comes in and wears our jumper to come in with spirit and play the Port Adelaide way, and fortunately enough we were able to do that. We love to play hard, contested footy and we know if we play that for four quarters we’ll get the result we want.”
Hamish Hartlett
On consistency:
“The big challenge we face now is backing tonight’s performance up next week. That’s what we’ve struggled with the for the past 18 months – stringing consecutive performances together week after week. Tonight’s a good start, but we need to bring the same pressure and intent next week, and the week after that, and the week after that, because if you drop off at any stage in this competition, you get found out.”
On our first win at the G since 2013 (3-game losing streak):
“The guys love playing on the home of footy. It was a perfect night for footy. There’s plenty of room for us to work with and we’re looking forward to coming back here in a few weeks time”
