JAY Schulz is set to return to the field this week through the Port Adelaide SANFL side.

Initially tipped as an outside chance to be named for the Power, on Thursday morning senior coach Ken Hinkley confirmed the key forward would play with the Magpies.

"Jay will play for our SANFL side this week down at Noarlunga (against South Adelaide),” Hinkley told RSN on Thursday morning.

“Hopefully he’ll get through that game with a bye the week after and [be] ready to go from there.”

Schulz has been sidelined since Round 1 with a back injury and has spent the past 12 weeks recovering from surgery.

The Magpies take on the Panthers on Saturday at 1.10pm, Hickinbotham Oval.

AFL and SANFL teams will be announced on Thursday evening at 5.55pm ACST.
