PORT Adelaide faces Collingwood on Thursday night in a vital match as the Power battles the fifth-placed Pies in a must-win game.

Jackson Trengove is available for selection after the tall defender was last week sidelined last minute with the flu.

Power’s head of high performance Darren Burgess said he’s recovered and should be fine to play on Thursday night.

Travis Boak has also been cleared to play this week after a scare involving a rolled ankle in the third term against Sydney.

INJURY UPDATE: Round 14

Small forwards Jake Neade and Karl Amon have impressed in SANFL performances recently and both served as emergencies for the Power last week. Their speed and agility could be create new avenues to goal for the struggling Power side.

Meanwhile defender Tom Clurey is also pushing for an AFL recall following solid AFL appearances in Rounds 8-10 and consistently strong form in the Magpies.

Ruckman Brodie Grundy is in the mix for the Pies after making a successful return from a neck injury in the VFL last week.

The big man earned 24 hit outs, 19 disposals and seven clearances in the game, proving his value in the midfield. After playing every AFL game this season before injury, he’s expected to hit the top side again soon.

Pies’ utility Travis Varcoe has escaped game suspension and will also be available to play against the Power.

The star midfielder was in doubt for Thursday’s clash after being charged for low head-high impact on Hawk’s Cyril Rioli by the Match Review Panel. He’s accepted a $1,000 fine and is clear to hit the field against Port Adelaide.

Round 14 may also see the debut of 19-year-old defender Matthew Scharenberg. According to collingwoodfc.com.au, coaches have flagged the young half back as a possible breakthrough player for the Magpies this year, praising his ball movement skills and ability to read the play.
